The London Wine Festival
A celebration of wines and food from around the world, bringing people together through live experiences.
Where’s this come from?
After founding & exiting Rough Runner and then founding Chiswick Festival – after discussions with past sponsors and partners of Rough Runner, who also got involved with Chiswick Festival, and are interesting in continuing to work together, it’s emerged from the wineries themselves that there is no event like the Amsterdam Wine Festival in the UK – which has presented a huge opportunity.
The wineries became excited about the idea of bringing an event of the size, style and nature of the Amsterdam Wine Festival to London and have all said they would support this.
In turn, having organised large events (10,000+ attendance) for years, and having attended the Amsterdam Wine Festival personally, we are now setting up what will be the UK’s first Wine Festival, of this style and nature.
Jonathan has decided to not run Chiswick Festival any longer but instead, transition to the London Wine Festival – given the exciting opportunity that’s presented itself; and the fact this is very different to everything else out there. This also coupled with the huge rise in millennials now drinking wine.
Chiswick Festival was competing with many other events, such as Pub In the Park and so risked becoming another event in a very similar market. However no one is doing anything like the London Wine Festival (LWF) presently in the UK, so this is a first. And excitingly so is being supported by wineries.
The Event
Amsterdam Wine Festival has 4 sold-out days per event, each day with 5,000 attendees. So 20,000 attendees per event.
There’s an entrance fee which includes a souvenir glass, and attendees meander their way around various wineries that takes their fancy, have a taste, and if they like the wine, will buy a glass or bottle to share amongst friends, before they move on to the next winery.
This, coupled with a variety of great quality, authentic, fresh street food everyone has come to love, along with live music and games, creates the environment that people want to be and stay in.
As with the Amsterdam Wine Festival, people enjoy wine and food, and as the day and evening progress, everyone gets that little bit tipsier before they start dancing to the music and live DJs into the night.

What’s This All About!
Over the course of an extended long weekend – a Thursday through Sunday, LWF is planning to offer locals, Londoners and the trade the opportunity to enjoy wines from various independent wineries, taste food from local street food stalls, in surroundings where they will be able to sit back, relax, indulge and enjoy a great atmosphere, with some great entertainment.
The event will be a ticketed event, where a ticket will allow entry for one person for a “session”.
Each session is a 5-hour block, and attendees can buy double blocks where they stay for the entire day. There will be an array of caterers serving food from around the world, supported with entertainment ranging from crushing grapes to Pétanque, with ambient background music, live music and later on in the day DJ’s all with the aim to help keep everyone engaged and stay on-site for the duration, spending more at the bars & catering units.
The idea with this concept is to offer –
- Independent Wineries the opportunity to share their wines and let attendees taste and experience their liquid
- Local street food stalls the opportunity to serve “tasting” signature dishes from their main menu, at £5-6 per dish (the idea being visitors could enjoy several smaller dishes from around the world as they taste dishes from various caterers)
- Unique stalls and stands would be able to provide produce such as Cheese Stalls, Bread Stalls and Charcuterie Boards
- The event can be part indoor and part outdoor
- This will be a fabulous way for friends and family to meet, in a secure, fun, creative and engaging environment whilst supporting our independent wineries and food stalls.
Dates
Flexible on dates. However, we need a 3-day set-up period, Monday – Weds, and a 4-day event – Thurs to Sunday, with one de-rig day.
Possible dates: Late Oct 2022 or any weekend in Nov 2022
Or the end of April 2023 and then possibly a second in late Sept/early Oct 2023.
Dec-March is not suitable.

Ticket prices increase nearer the date. Each ticket tier will be available for a period of a number of weeks.
There is an option where we can include all wines which is being discussed.
There is also options for upgrades and VIPs, including food vouchers on the day etc.
Anticipated Numbers
The Amsterdam Wine Festival accommodates 5,000 attendees per day, for 4 days and sells out, on two events each year.
Hiring expert marketeers to assist with the launch and growth, we are aiming for the same volumes.
